When I look for blogging advice I’m drawn to amazing female personalities like Alecia Beth Moore, known professionally as P!nk who grew up in a middle-class home as a rebellious teenager, Tiffany Jenkins from Juggling The Jenkins who speaks openly and shamelessly about her struggles with drug addiction and mental illness, Tina Turner: who in her autobiography, I, Tina: My Life Story (1986), revealed that Ike Turner had subjected her to domestic violence for years, and Sinead O’Connor who wrote “My Special Child” after dealing with an abortion. I still read a wide range of other bloggers, but I can tell you that these ladies just ‘get’ me.

I have been inspired by these women, and so many other people, so much so that I decided to start writing about my own struggles, not only as a child or rebellious teenager but how my life slowly started falling apart after what some would call the “perfect marriage”. Going from born with a silver spoon, to having to sleep on the floor; marrying into a stable family and being blessed with a baby girl; to losing so much of my life by ending up working in a brothel as a massage girl; being raped; having an abortion and separating from my husband and finding myself again in the magical world of BDSM.

Journaling has become part of my pride and joy in life with some of my blogs featured on and Let’s Talk About Sex. Overall, the benefits of journaling and expressive writing for those suffering from depression are pretty clear: it gives us the opportunity to release pent-up negative emotions, keeps us in a more positive frame of mind, and help us to build a buffer between our negative thoughts and our sense of well-being.

I can now share my stories shamelessly, openly and honestly about my past and addiction, as well as my struggles with BiPolar, PTSD and anxiety. I want to share my story of hope and perseverance (which is a lot harder than I thought) and inspire people to become incredibly passionate about bringing awareness to mental illness.
